One year on from Anna’s accession to the throne, Arendelle confronts an overwhelming invasion from an implacable foe: the princess of Imperial Russia and Exalted member, Katina Romanov, and her three elite Grand Dukes. With Katina’s commanders each targeting an assigned region in three phases – the North Sea, Northuldra, and the heartland of Arendelle – Anna and Elsa face the existential fight of their lives.
This conflict draws in every major canon character from the Frozen franchise into its maelstrom, from Anna’s inner court of Elsa, Kristoff, Mattias, and Honeymaren to allies like Colisa of Chatho and Mari of Vesterland. No one is safe as the elegant hand of Princess Romanov reaches out to extinguish the Arendellian flame forever.

Theatres of War
Stage One – The North Sea: Arendelle enjoys the natural barrier of Arenfjord, which leads to a strip of sea that is easily defensible thanks to ample shorelines for stationed troops and artillery. A critical question for both Anna and Katina is who can seize the neighbouring island, control of which could either let Katina establish a menacing base for easy attack or help Anna blunt the initial first wave from Russia. A vicious battle for domination of the island is sure to unfold.
Anna: “General Mattias not only has my best troops, but also the recommissioned warship Muspelheim and my own flagship, Pride of Elsa, to stop Katina from establishing a Russian base on my doorstep. We must take the eastern shoreline at all costs.”
Katina: “Grand Duke Yaraslaf has the honour of leading my Baltic Fleet, in seizing the sea lanes and the island. As its admiral, Yaraslaf must maneuver the fleet to force Anna into a defensive position, allowing us a base from which to build on our initial assault.”
Stage Two – Northuldra: The vast and mystical forest of Northuldra is home to the four spirits of nature and the tribespeople that play a critical role in Anna’s political vision. Across the Dark Sea is Ahtohallan, the source of Elsa’s power. Katina has assigned her Grand Duke of ancient dark magic, Nykras, to occupy this strategic asset. Seizure of the north will allow Nykras to advance southwards, cornering Arendelle in a pincer attack by sea and by land.
Anna: “Northuldra’s survival depends on Yelena and Honeymaren’s countermeasures against Nykras’ undead legions. I fear for the catastrophic devastation and loss of life that will follow in the lich’s wake, but apart from the four spirits, who are no pushover, Maren and I have an ace: Amira, who alone can fight like a small battalion.”
Katina: “The man who’d become Nykras died during the Mongol invasions. Centuries of battle experience as well as his necromantic afterlife makes him the ideal general to defeat the tribespeople and spirits. He’ll overlay his legions onto the natural landscape itself, a poisonous presence corrupting everything into his undead servants!”
Final Stage – Arendelle: Katina has saved her superweapon for the final phase of her invasion: her family’s guardian angel, the mighty Sora, is to strike at the Arendellian heartland itself, moving against the kingdom’s final defence of Elsa and Anna. Together, the sister-queens, the Diarchy, form a relentless defence against Sora. Will the queen of Arendelle and the Fifth Spirit triumph against the foremost Grand Duke, or will Sora reduce all to ashes?
Anna: “I’ve rued the day when my people would be put in danger by Katina’s champion. Angel or no, I’ll throw myself in Sora’s way the moment she attacks any Arendellian, let alone Elsa – but somehow I think she’ll be a reluctant foe.“
Katina: “Elsa and Anna are the core and centre of Arendelle’s power, protected by the finest heroes in all the kingdom. To defeat them is no mean feat. Sora will need her wits about her as she shoots down from the heavens like an apocalyptic comet upon my foes. I can sense her apprehension, but I’m not worried. She’s my angel. The angel of the Romanovs.”
